At 1558hrs local alarm 3-2 was alerted brining units from Westminter and Reese to the intersection of Kate Wagner Road and Route 27 for a farm machinery and field fire. Frederick County Chief 15 (Yankey) was the first unit on the scene and found a hay field, 6 to 9 large round bales and a hay bailer on fire and requested a tanker to assist. As the incident progressed The Lieutenant off of Engine 32 (Pinner) established the Kate Wagner Road Comand and requested additional units including a brush task force which brought both Engine 101 and Brush 105 to the scene. Engine 101 arrived and supplied Engine 32 with water and deployed its crew with brush rakes and a 250 foot attack line to work the perimeter of the fire. Brush 105 was positioned on the southern flank of the fire and assisted in mopping up. The perimeter of the fire was quickly knocked down and then the compaines worked with the property owner on spreading out and extinguishing the large round bales of hay. The New Windsor units operated for 1 1/2 hours prior to returning to service.
At 1647 Brush 105 was cleared from this incident and sent to a reported brush fire in the unit block of Berkshire Court in Westminster with units from Pleasant Valley. Brush 105 was placed in service prior to arrival.
