At 1057 units from the Union Bridge Fire Department were dispatched to a reported vehicle collision at the intersection of Middleburg Road and Bark Hill Road. Just after the initial dispatch an engine from New Windsor was added to the call due to reports of a large truck on fire at the scene. First arriving units found a 2 vehicle collision with a large construction service truck off the roadway with its cab engulfed in flames. The Lieutenant from Engine 81 (C. Harris) established the initial Middleburg Road Command and requested several resources. MSP Aviation was requested for a Priority 2 Category B Trauma Patient, the Carroll County Haz-Mat Team was requested to assist with a various issues related to the service truck which was carrying 2100 gallons of diesel fuel and various other items, an additional engine (Engine 51) to handle the helicopter's landing site at Francis Scott Key High School and various utility companies. Engine 102 arrived and assisted Engine 81 with the extinguishment of the truck fire. Chief 8-1 (Cartwright) arrived and assumed command. The Haz-Mat team assisted with the transfer of the diesel fuel from the service truck into a vacuum tanker supplied by the damaged truck's owner and handled the clean up from a ruptured saddle tank. The driver of the passenger vehicle was treated by Paramedic 89 and flown to an area trauma center while the driver of the truck was uninjured. The New Windsor units operated on the scene for an hour and 40 minutes until being returned to service.

Upon clearing the scene Engine 102 was sent to a reported Brush Fire in the area of Bark Hill Road and Ebert Road. Engine 102 arrived to assist Brush 85 in the extinguishment of a 50 foot by 10 foot section of grass which was on fire.
