At 0830 Carroll County Emergency Communications sounded Box Alarm 10-13 bringing units from New Windsor, Westminster, Union Bridge, Pleasant Valley and Taneytown to the 2400 Block of Old New Windsor Pike for a reported wood shed on fire near a house. First arriving Chief 10 (T. Coe) arrived to find a 15' x 20' shed with light smoke showing and established Old New Windsor Pike Command. The chimney from the wood burning stove in the shed had ignited the wooden structural members of the roof. Engine 101 arrived and deployed a 1 3/4" attack line and had the fire controlled within 2 minutes of their arrival. With the fire quickly under control, Command held the assignment to the New Windsor units and had Engine 81 (Union Bridge) transfer to our station. The crews from New Windsor spent additional time overhauling the structure and checking for any remaining fire extension. Units operated on the scene for less than 45 minutes, the cause of the fire was ruled accidental.
