NWFD Fire Prevention Ambassadors Crowned at County Compition

On Sunday, October 22 approximately 50 people gathered at The Public Safety Training Center in Westminster to watch the 2017-2018 Miss and Junior Miss Carroll County Fire Prevention contest. There were four contestants for Miss Fire Prevention and four contestants for Junior Miss Fire Prevention. The newly crowned Junior Miss Fire Prevention is Carla Clagett who represented Winfield in the contest. Her first runner-up is Amanda Gubernatis from New Windsor. The new Miss Carroll County Fire Prevention is Taylor Blizzard from New Windsor and her first runner-up is Kerrigan Spenner from Hampstead. Each of these young ladies will work throughout the year promoting fire prevention with the Carroll County Volunteer Emergency Services Association. Some of the girls will be given the opportunity to compete for Maryland Fire Chief's Junior and Miss Fire Prevention in April 2018 in Prince George County. The Juniors will be able to compete for the MSFA Jr Miss in April 2018. Sarah will also have the opportunity to compete for the Maryland State Firemen’s Association Miss Fire Prevention in June of 2018 as part of the MSFA annual convention. Carroll County has been represented numerous times over the last several years at the state level.
