At 3:27pm on Sunday January 14th units from Westminster, Reese, New Windsor and Pleasant Valley were dispatched for a reported house fire in the 900 block of Gist Road. First arriving Engine 33 (M. Hess) found a large two and a half story farm house with smoke showing from the first and second floors. Lieutenant Hess established the Gist Road Command and requested the Rapid Intervention Dispatch. Engine 33 deployed a 1 3/4" attack line to the basement knocking a fire in the basement and then moving to the first floor where there was extension above. Engine 101 arrived and rapidly moved to the second floor to perform a search and check for additional vertical extension. After extensive overhaul the fire was under control in 30 minutes. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office. The New Windsor units operated for 90 minutes prior to returning to service.
