As the snow began to pile up on Friday the volunteers of the New Windsor Fire Department began to flow into the station to staff emergency response apparatus. More than 15 personnel manned the station for almost 48 strait hours. Call volume was light with only 4 calls for service in the 2 day weather event (2 Fire and 2 EMS) personnel kept busy at the station by keeping the apparatus bays shoveled out (from the almost 30"s on the ground), chaining up apparatus and shoveling out Fire Hydrants. The station was also used as a resting area for area plow operators allowing them to get a bite to eat a few hours of sleep prior to returning to keeping the roads open.
