Melissa Williams Crowned MSFA North Central Region Jr Miss Fire Prevention

The MSFA North Central Region Jr. Miss Fire Prevention Contest was held this past sunday, February 21st at the Winfield Community VFD. Four contestants competed for the title of North Central Region Jr. Miss Fire Prevention 2010. Judges were Joyce Thorne, PP MSFALA, Nora Ryan, PP MSFALA and Jennifer Barciz, 1st runner-up MSFA Miss Fire Prevention 2009-2010. During a private interview with the judges, the contestants were required to give a five minute presentation on a fire prevention related topic of their choice, then on stage, draw a fire prevention question and answer it to the best of their ability. Melissa Williams from New Windsor was chosen MSFA North Central Region Jr. Miss Fire Prevention 2010. Melissa is the daughter of Jay Williams and Dorene Gatewood. She attends Francis Scott Key High School where she is in the 10th grade. She enjoys band, chorus, beekeeping, astronomy club, FFA, Marching Band, Basketball and she is president of the New Windsor Jr. Fire Department.
