| Members of the New Windsor Fire Department gathered at the station on Tuesday evening to take part in March's Company Drill. The topic for the evening was Rural Water Supply Operations with a concentration on the "Dump Site". The NWFD was joined by personnel and apparatus and members from the Union Bridge and Winfield Fire Departments. The instructor for the evening was Mark Davis from GBW Associates (www.gotbigwater.com). The 3 hour drill consisted of a brief classroom overview and then crews went outside and established a "rural water supply operation" using multiple folding tanks. Rural Water Supply is a pivotal operation where Fire Departments move water from at static source (stream, pond, cistern, or even distant fire hydrant) via fire apparatus to the fire scene to maintain water for fire attack. This task is normally done in areas without fire hydrants. |
