NWFD Holds Annual Installation and Awards Evening

The New Windsor Fire Department celebrated 64 years of service to the community at their annual Awards Night and Installation Officers on Saturday March 3rd at the station. The event was attended by members of the Fire Department, the Auxiliary and the Junior Department. The evening was kicked off with an excellent meal of Fried Chicken prepared by Dave Green and Pit Beef which was prepared by NWFD's own "Pit Crew".

Ceremonies for the evening began with a memorial service to remember the members lost over the last year.

A special award was given to Bill Kreimer for 50 Years of active service. Bill joined the NWFD on July 10, 1961 and served in various offices over the years to include; Foreman, Corresponding Secretary, County Delegate, Board of Director, Fire Lieutenant, Vice President and President. Bill continues to be an active member of the department serving on various committees as well as the Board of Directors.

Kevin Kreimer was given life membership with 30 years of active service to the NWFD.

Jeb Hartzler, Steve Kreimer and Neal Roop received the LOSAP award for meeting 25 years of service in the Length of Service Awards Program.

Barb Blacksten was recognized for 25 years of service as the Financial Secretary.

Dorothy Rue received a plaque for chairing several committees over the years including the BINGO committee, the fundraising committee and the banquet committee.

The New Windsor Fire Department received several generous donations during the evening:

New Windsor Auxiliary donated over $57,000 worth of equipment over the last year to the Company including a new Ford F-350 Utility which is due to be delivered in late March.

New Winsor Junior Fire Department presented a check for $500 which is to go towards the lettering of the new Utility

After the distribution of the awards the 2012 Officers were installed. The officer's of the auxiliary were installed by Dorothy Rue, President of the Auxiliary to the Carroll County Volunteer Emergency Services Association. The officers of the Fire Department and the "Juniors" were installed by Kevin Shiloh, the 2nd Vice President of the Carroll County Volunteer Emergency Services Association.
