| The New Windsor Fire Department was very fortunate to have a local property owner donate a house to be used for live fire training. The structure was in a state of disrepair and in need of demolition by the property owner. The New Windsor Fire Department spent several man-hours and followed national standards in preparing the structure for the live fire training. Sunday April 22nd, members of the New Windsor, Union Bridge, Westminster, Winfield and Lineboro Fire Departments met at the New Windsor Station at 0700hrs for the pre-burn briefing. Units then traveled to the training site on Dennings Road and participated in 10 live fire evolutions where firefighters practiced their fire attack, search and rescue, ground ladders, ventilation and overhaul skills. Just after 12 noon after all of the training evolutions were completed the structure was demolished by fire under the watchful eye of the fire department. After the training event all participants returned to the New Windsor Station for a lunch prepared by members of the New Windsor Fire Department Auxiliary. The NWFD would like to thank the property owners for their donation, the Union Bridge, Westminster, Winfield and Lineboro Fire Departments for participating in the training, the Auxiliary for preparing a wonderful lunch and the Reese Fire Department for covering our station during the training. |
