At 1:55pm units responded from the New Windsor Station as part of the Haz Mat Assignment for a reported explosion with multiple persons injured in the 600 Block of Liberty Road. First on the Scene Paramedic 129 advised they had 1 traumatic injury and requested aviation. Duty12 arrived and established Liberty Road command and created a "hot zone". As members of the Haz Mat team arrived a plan was developed and an "entry" was made to investigate the area. The entry team found a large chemical tank which had over pressured and "blown its lid" however the tank remained intact. The entry team members exited the area and were decontaminated. After consultation with the Maryland Department of the Environment the incident was deemed safe and the building was turned back over to its occupants. Haz Mat units operated on the scene for 2 1/2 hours.
