At 11:23am Paramedic 109 and Engine 102 were dispatched to the intersection of Bowersox Road and Nicodemus Road for a Motor Vehicle Collision reported serious. As units from Station 10 went responding the call was upgraded with a report of people trapped brining Rescue Squad 8, Engine 101 and two additional medic units to the scene. First arriving Duty 10 (M. Moser) found a two vehicle collision with both vehicles off the road, down an embankment. Lieutenant Moser was able to confirm that two occupants of a car were trapped in their vehicle and he established the Bowersox Road Command.

Paramedic 109 quickly assessed the three patients and found one to require the services of Maryland State Police Aviation to be flown to a trauma center. The crews from Engine 101 and Engine 102 went to work stabilizing the vehicle to make sure it did not slide further down the hill and then removed the passenger side door to make access to the occupants of the car. Two occupants from the car were removed and placed into a "stokes basket" where they were pulled up the steep incline to the road surface by the crew of Rescue Squad 8 (Union Bridge).

Paramedic 109's patient was airlifted by "Trooper 3" and taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center. Paramedic 39 (Westminster) transported their patient to Carroll Hospital Center and Paramedic 149's (Winfield) patient refused transport. Units returned to service in just over an hour.
