Every year at the Maryland State Firemen's Association convention in Ocean City, young ladies from different counties across the state compete against each other for the opportunity to win a title as the Miss Fire Prevention Ambassador for the MSFA. The contest consists of a private interview with three judges where the young ladies answered questions about fire safety, as well as presented a project that they created on any fire safety topic of their choice. After the interviews, all the ladies gathered on stage, in front of an audience and the judges, where they answered two questions: "How do you hope to spread the fire prevention message?" and another question drawn at random.

This year, the 1st Runner-Up Title was awarded to Emily Reaver. Ms. Reaver began her quest for the MSFA title last year after winning the Miss New Windsor Title, and then going on to win the Carroll County title. Ms. Reaver is very passionate about teaching people of all ages about fire safety, and she is looking forward to making a difference in not only our community, but across the state this year.

The winner of the MSFA title was Sierra Smallwood from Washington County.

The New Windsor Fire & Hose Co. #1 wants to congratulate both of these young ladies on their accomplishments.
