At 5:52 the Carroll County Emergency Communications Center sounded box alarm 06-13 for the report of a building fire in the 2000 block of Frizzleburg Road. As units from Pleasant Valley, Westminster, Taneytown and New Windsor Fire Departments began to respond the dispatcher advised there were several reports of a working fire and that the callers advised it could be a barn or a house on fire. Duty 3 arrived and confirmed a 2 story building with heavy fire showing. Chief 6 (F. Shaw) arrived soon after and established the Frizzleburg Road Command and requested the Rapid Intervention Dispatch and a Tanker Task Force. As the first engine company arrived the structure had started to collapse and a defensive operation was declared. Engine 102 served as the Dump Site engine drafting out of a folding tank to supply water for the fire attack. Brush 105 was added to full fill the first alarm assignment and assisted at the fill site while Engine 101 responded on the Rapid Intervention Dispatch. The personnel from both New Windsor engines assisted with the defensive fire attack and overhaul operations. The fire was declared contained in one hour and units operated at the scene dousing hot spots three additional hours. There were no injuries reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal's Office.
