At 6:03pm units from Westminster, Reese, Pleasant Valley and New Windsor were dispatched to the 600 Block of Spring Meadow Drive for a reported house fire. Engine 33 arrived and found smoke showing from a 2 1/2 story single family house. Lieutenant 3-1 (J. Leppert) arrived just after the engine and confirmed a working kitchen fire and requested the Rapid Intervention Dispatch. Engine 101, the second arriving engine company, split their crew of six with a crew supporting Engine 33's initial attack line and a second crew taking a line to the second floor. The fire was quickly knocked down with it being held to the kitchen with very minor extension into the second floor. Utility 10 responded to fill out the command support role on the first alarm and Medic 109 responded on the Rapid Intervention Dispatch. The New Windsor units operated for just over an hour prior to returning to service. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office.
