At 3:52pm the Carroll County 911 center began to receive calls for a motor vehicle accident with a subject trapped at the intersection of Route 31 and Medford Road. As units from New Windsor and Union Bridge were dispatched additional calls from an off duty firefighter and police officer confirmed one subject trapped and requested two additional ambulances to assist with multiple injured subjects. First arriving Paramedic 109 found a 3 car collision in the intersection and began to triage the injuries. Engine 102 and Rescue Squad 8 worked to remove the driver's side doors and "b-post" of one of the passenger cars to gain access to the patient who was trapped. The extrication was completed in 9 minutes. A total of 3 patients were transported from the scene. Two to Carroll Hospital Center and One to Shock Trauma via MSP Aviation. Units operated on the scene for an hour prior to returning to service.
