Message to the Public Concerning Annual Department Carnival,

On Monday, April 13th the Board of Directors held a meeting to discuss the status of upcoming department events in light of the current restrictions related to COVID-19 pandemic. The meeting was attended by members (some remotely called in) of the board as well as the Chief, EMS Captain and the President.

After an extensive discussion, weighing the risks and benefits of various options, it was decided by unanimous vote to cancel all department fundraising events through July 1st, 2020. This decision affects the annual NWFD Carnival, Bingo and all rentals of department facilities. In addition, it was decided to cancel the Crab Feed that was scheduled in July.

As with all volunteer Fire Companies in the County, the loss of fundraising income could have had a significant affect on our department's operations. The New Windsor Fire Department looks forward to the successfully beating this Pandemic with the support of the community, and we look forward to brighter days ahead. The New Windsor Fire Department would like to once again thank the New Windsor Community for their unwavering support of our organization.

This was a very tough decision that the Board of Directors took very seriously. In an organization of our size there are many different views on an issue so if you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out to me via email at SKoontz@nwfd10.org. In closing once again thank you to the community for your continued support during these unprecedented times. Please ensure that you take care of yourself and your family during these times and continue to follow the guidance put out by our health department and other governmental partners.

Sincerely,
Steve Koontz
Chairman of the Board

Thanks to the NWFD for their unwavering support of our community. The decision to cancel the carnival must have been a very difficult one to come to. My thoughts and prayers are with each of you as you answer the calls to help our neighbors. Please stay well and know that we are behind your decisions, whatever they may be.
