Department Responds to Mutual Aid Barn Fire

On the morning of Friday, July 3, 2020 at approximately 0240 hours units from New Windsor and surrounding departments were dispatched to assist the Libertytown Fire Department with a reported barn fire in the 14800 Block of Oak Orchard Road. Frederick County Chief 900 arrived on scene to find a fully involved barn and established Oak Orchard command. Oak Orchard command requested a tanker task force, Sheriff's Office and Fire Marshall's Office

Engine 101 arrived, Chief 10-1(M. Moser) was appointed water supply group supervisor by Command, and Engine 101's crew assisted crews from Libertytown with fire attack. Brush 105, was special requested by Command and was instructed to establish a primary fill site site in the area of Oak Orchard Road and Sams Creek Road. Units operated on the scene for over three hours. Brush 105 filled a total of 40,300 gallons of water, filling 13 tankers and 2 engines.

Units from Frederick, Carroll, and Howard County worked on scene together for several hours to extinguish the fire. Frederick County Fire Marshal's are currently investigating the incident. Special thanks to Engine 63(Pleasant Valley) for filling our station in while our members were on scene.
