By EMS Captain David Coe
October 2, 2022

If you have driven by the station located at 101 High Street in New Windsor, you will notice we have changed our exterior lights to red. This is to help honor those firefighters who have made the supreme sacrifice while serving others and have died in the line of duty. The red lights at the station will remain in place through the night of October 9th, 2022 to help memorialize and remember those who have died in the line of duty.

The New Windsor Fire Department would encourage all residents of New Windsor to help light the night red and remember those who have died in the line of duty while serving others.

The firefighters from Maryland that will be honored in this year’s National Memorial Services in Emmitsburg, MD on October 9, 2022 include:

• Nicholas C. Finamore – Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department
• Joshua D. Laird – Frederick County Division of Fire and Rescue Services
• Brad Scott – Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services
• William Andre Sheffield – Baltimore City Fire Department

The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation in honoring and remembering the sacrifice of America’s fallen fire heroes. The National Fallen Firefighters Foundations invite landmarks, fire and community organizations, businesses, and homes across the nation to light up red during the week of October 2–9, 2022, leading up to the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service on Sunday, October 9 at 10:00 am ET. Learn more or watch live at: weekend.firehero.org.
