Just after 1330 hours Medic 38, Station 3 (Westminster) and Rescue Squad 9 (Reese) were dispatch for a motor vehicle accident with reports of entrapment on Ridge Road between Spring Mills Road and Bond Street. First arriving Engine 32 units reported a two vehicle head on collision, confirmed entrapment and Lieutenant 3-4 (Evans) established the Ridge Road Command. Crews found one occupant of a passenger car pinned and a box truck off the roadway with a ruptured saddle tank. Command requested the Haz Mat Team to assist with the saddle tank bringing units from New Windsor. Haz Mat 30 and Utility 10 with the spill trailer responded with 3 technicians along with members of the Haz Mat Teams from Stations 2 and 13. As the crews from Stations 3 & 9 worked to extricate and treat the patient who was flown by Trooper 3 to the Shock Trauma Center the Haz Mat Team went to work securing the box truck, containing the spill and transferring the remaining diesel fuel into drums. The Haz Mat units worked for 1 hour on the incident and then were cleared by Ridge Road Command.
