| On the afternoon of Sunday, November 16, 2025, the New Windsor Fire Department proudly hosted a milestone event that will be remembered for generations—our Mortgage Shredding Ceremony. Held inside Windsor Station, this celebration brought together community partners, past and present leaders, longtime supporters, and dedicated members of the fire service to commemorate the official payoff of our fire station. This accomplishment is far more than a financial milestone; it is a victory for the entire New Windsor community. Paying off the station represents years of teamwork, generosity, volunteerism, fundraising, and unwavering belief in the mission of the New Windsor Fire & Hose Company No. 1. Every ticket purchased, every donation made, every hour volunteered, and every event supported played a part in making this day a reality. The ceremony welcomed several distinguished guests whose leadership, advocacy, and support were instrumental in helping our department secure the land and resources necessary to build the station. Former Carroll County Comptroller Gene Curfman, whose dedication and guidance were vital in the early stages of planning and acquisition. Maryland State Firefighter Association President Charles Simpson, representing the statewide fire service family that supplied a loan to allow the construction of the new station. As the symbolic shredding of the mortgage took place, the room filled with applause and pride—reflecting not only the closing of a major chapter, but the beginning of an exciting new era. Our station stands paid in full, owned by the very community it serves, and ready to support future firefighting, EMS response, training, and community programs for decades to come. The New Windsor Fire Department extends its deepest gratitude to everyone who contributed to this achievement. Whether you supported our raffles, attended fundraising events, volunteered your time, or advocated for our mission—this accomplishment belongs to you. Thank you, New Windsor, for believing in your fire department. Together, we have strengthened our foundation and ensured that our community’s safety, readiness, and resilience continue to grow. We look forward to celebrating many more milestones with you in the years ahead. |
