| The New Windsor Fire Department would like to help spread the word about an upcoming Carroll County Household Hazardous Waste Collection and Document Shredding Event taking place on Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. This event provides residents with a safe and convenient opportunity to dispose of hazardous household materials, securely shred sensitive documents, and take advantage of medication and sharps disposal services. Event Details Date: Saturday, April 18, 2026 Time: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM Location: (Off Maryland Route 97, north of Westminster. Continue past Meadow Branch Road to Old Meadow Branch Road.) What’s Available at This Event? Carroll County residents may safely drop off a variety of dangerous household materials that should not be placed in regular trash. Accepted Household Hazardous Waste Items Include: The following items will not be accepted at this event: Latex paint and water-based paints, stains, sealants, and varnishes Some items not accepted at this event may still be recycled year-round at the: Northern Landfill Recycling Center On-Site Document Shredding Residents can also bring personal sensitive documents for secure on-site shredding. Shredding Guidelines: A Medication and Sharps Takeback will also be available during the event. Items Accepted: Please note: No liquids will be accepted. For more information about medication and sharps disposal, residents are encouraged to visit the Carroll County Health Department. Important Reminder This event is for Carroll County residential use only and is not open for commercial or farm-related disposal.
