The New Windsor Fire Department is sadden to announcement the death of Auxiliary Charter Member Ms. Betty Fritz. Ms. Fritz passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2021. Ms. Fritz is survived by her son, Charles "Rick" Fritz, who serves as president of the New Windsor Fire Department.

Ms. Betty was the biggest fan of the New Windsor Fire Department, weather it be cheering the fire department on during softball games, assisting at the Annual Fire Department Carnival or assisting with Auxiliary fund raisers. Ms. Betty was a constant presence around the fire department and she will be greatly missed.

Below is Ms. Betty's Obituary that appeared in the Carroll County Times on August 28, 2021:

Ms. Betty Mae Fritz, age 96, of New Windsor, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Bridging Life Hospice, Westminster.

Born May 15, 1925 in Bark Hill, MD, she was the daughter of the late Ray Edward Weller and Fannie Belle Rowe Weller. She was the wife of the late Charles Wesley "Tooter" Fritz, who predeceased her in 2006. Mrs. Fritz was formerly employed with the local sewing factories and in the cafeteria at the former New Windsor Middle School.

She was a member of Bark Hill Bible Church, Union Bridge. Betty was a charter member of the New Windsor Fire Company Auxiliary, where she served previously as president and chaplain. She enjoyed her time volunteering with the auxiliary, staying involved from 1948 until 2020, when activities ceased due to the pandemic restrictions. Betty is survived by her son, C. Rick Fritz of New Windsor; sister, Loretta Heltibridle; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 5 sisters and 4 brothers.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bark Hill Bible Church, 4352 Bark Hill Rd., Union Bridge, MD 21791 or New Windsor Fire Department, P.O. Box 247, New Windsor, MD 21776. Leave a message or memory on her "tribute wall" at www.hartzlerfuneralhome.com.
