Construction Update: New Brush 105 Reaches Another Major Milestone

July 11, 2026

The New Windsor Fire & Hose Company No. 1 is excited to share another progress update on the construction of our new Brush 105, as the project continues to move forward at Vengeant Apparatus.

During the past week, both the Ford Super Duty chassis and the custom-built apparatus body reached another significant milestone in the construction process by entering the paint booth. This phase marks one of the most visible transformations in the build, as the individual components begin taking on the familiar colors and appearance of a New Windsor Fire Department apparatus.

Following the painting process, the chassis and body will continue through the assembly stage where technicians will begin installing the emergency lighting, warning systems, pump, plumbing, electrical components, storage compartments, and the specialized equipment that will make Brush 105 a versatile frontline response vehicle.

Once completed, Brush 105 will dramatically enhance the department's capabilities in responding to brush fires, field fires, wildland incidents, and emergencies in areas inaccessible to larger fire apparatus. Designed as a highly capable mini-pumper, the new unit will combine off-road mobility with structural firefighting capabilities.

The new apparatus will feature:

- A Ford Super Duty 4x4 chassis specifically configured for off-road operations.
- A 1,500 GPM Waterous fire pump capable of supporting both structural and wildland firefighting operations.
- A 200-gallon water tank for rapid initial attack.
- Approximately 1,000 feet of 4-inch large diameter hose to establish reliable water supplies.
- Two 200-foot crosslays for quick deployment on structure and outside fires.
- A 16,500-pound front-mounted winch to assist with vehicle recovery and access in difficult terrain.
- Modern LED emergency warning and scene lighting to improve visibility and firefighter safety.
- Extensive equipment storage to carry wildland firefighting tools, rescue equipment, medical supplies, and firefighting hose.

Brush 105 is being built to replace the department's aging brush truck while significantly expanding operational capabilities. In addition to responding to brush and woodland fires, the apparatus will provide water supply support, operate as a first-arriving engine on smaller incidents when appropriate, and improve access to remote locations throughout our first-due area and neighboring communities.

We look forward to sharing additional construction updates as Brush 105 continues through the final assembly, testing, and inspection phases.
